Murray Bridge Tips 03/04/2024
BEST BET 🏆
Race 1 No. 7 WANNASCHMACK ($3.90)
Local trainer Nicole Irwin found improvement out of WANNASCHMACK when racing in a maiden over this track and trip. The horse was making the step-up in trip to the mile second-up after resuming over 1100m at Clare. Wannaschmack jumped cleanly out of the machines before coming back under Callan Murray from their wide gate. There was a good tempo set by those out in front which suited Murray as he circled as the widest runner into the straight. The pair still had some ground to make up on the eventual winner On The Scent who gained the run of the race. On The Scent cleared out in time to hold the late charge of Wannaschmack with those two horses coming away from the others. On The Scent has come out since to win impressively at Oakbank while Wannaschmack stays to trip third-up.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 2 No. 1 DOUBLE YOU OWE ($8)
Seven-furlongs on the spacious track at home should suit DOUBLE YOU OWE who has shown enough ability to be winning a maiden. Grant Young sent him out over 1200m here on debut where Double You Owe showed speed to settle outside the leader. The horse kept grinding away in the straight only to eventually be claimed by A Samurai Mind as they hit the line. Honest in two runs over the same trip since before trainer Grant Young got him out to 1350m at Strathalbyn. Double You Owe was only fairly into stride with Samuel Payne having plenty of horse under him while avoiding the heels of those in front. Double You Owe was strong to the line to out-muscle a group of horses for second with Nisko Tu having already opened a winning break.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 4 No. 8 BEERZ WITH CLINT ($34)
We kept our cards close to our chest after watching an impressive trial from BEERZ WITH CLINT. He ran the trial out as a winner in good time over 1000m here, yet we noted the horse was carrying a lot of condition that day. Karen Letts-Maund sent him around in a seemingly thin BM58 which has since worked out okay with the third placegetter Chosen Blonde being a dual city winner since. Beerz With Clint looked the winner deep into the straight only for that condition to tell and have Little Rich Boy kick back and beat him. The tail chain came off with Beerz With Clint running an honest race in town before finding nothing in the straight last time out. Tail chain goes back on in sign that he may still be wind-sucking, and we’ll roll the dice at a price that we see a more genuine Beerz With Clint on Wednesday.
