BEST BET 🏆   

Race 10 No. 1 JUNGLE JIM- ($4.60) 

JUNGLE JIM can end the day a winner. The Mike Moroney-trained galloper dropped to this grade at his most recent start and showed improvement to finish runner-up behind Pink Beau Ty over the 1200m. The lightly raced six-year-old took up his customary front running position in that race before being run down late. He has form down the Flemington straight with a win when over the 1100m before finishing runner-up over the 1200m when third up at his last preparation. 

NEXT BEST 🥈   

Race 9 No. 7  TONNEOFGRIT -($6.50) 

TONNEOFGRIT can go close in Race 9 of the day. The Team Hawkes-trained galloper has had two runs this time in, finishing 4th an 5th behind Pascero. He needed the run when fresh and landing two le gets away before being held up at Caulfield over the 1400m before working home well to go eight lengths faster than standard benchmark. The five-year-old gets to the mile for the first time and looks like he is after the trip, while he has attracted early support in the betting. 

BEST VALUE 💰   

Race 3 No. 2 HIGH SECURITY- ($12) 

HIGH SECURITY is worth a bit of thought in Race 3 of the day. The BenchMark 70 affair pits some promising three-year-olds up against one another, including Otago and Very Sewreel. Unlike that pair, High Security has had the benefit of a run over the 1400m at Flemington with that coming on New Years Day. The Jason Warren-trained galloper was shuffled back to last in that race as they cornered before getting out and producing the fastest last 400m and 200m to finish a length away, going 0.2 lengths faster than standard benchmark, which is the best last start figure of any runner.
