Sunshine Coast Preview & Best Bets – 10/08/2024
The Sunshine Coast Turf Club is prepped and ready to host Queensland’s major metropolitan meeting this Saturday. There’s light rain on the forecast, but the racing action promises to be thrilling nonetheless. Here are our top picks.
Best Bet: Flying Trapeze
Race 6
There’s another victory on the horizon for the four-year-old stallion Flying Trapeze if he can replicate the turn of foot that saw him triumph at Doomben two weeks ago. There’s a bit of concern around how he’ll handle the wetter track conditions, but his skill over 1400m is undoubtable—he took home the top spot with a similar weight in his third run back from a spell. This Saturday, Celine Graham is taking the reins, and we expect them to settle together nicely. With three wins to his scorecard to date, there’s good chance of making it four.
Second Best Bet: Termagant
Race 8
Don’t overlook Termagant. With three wins from four starts, the four-year-old has proven herself a genuine wet tracker. Rewind to July 14, and Termagant surged to first at the 200m mark. This triumph is backed by a sharp performance at a recent Doomben trial. Plus, Ryan Maloney is in form and ready to help Termagant shine. Trained by Matthew Hoysted, she’s delivered a profitable return on investment throughout her career. Saturday could see this trend continue.
Best Value: Tappy’s Lad
Race 3
Tappy’s Lad is a seven-year-old gelding with seven career wins. Deep into his prep, he presents a pretty solid value bet. Although he hasn’t won in over a year, his recent third-place finish at Doomben shows promise. He narrowly missed second along the rail. With a favourable draw close to the fence and a quick back-up, he is well-positioned. Plus, he performs well on heavy tracks, making him a good contender if the wet weather holds.
