Wagga Racing Tips 30 Oct 2026: Gettin’ Tipsy Again?

Overview

Gettin’ Tipsy has won two of the last three starts, and on Friday gets in at the bottom of the weights in the Bragger Cup with Carly Frater, who has ridden three times at this track for trainer Michael Travers and placed on all three, one of them a win. That combination is the reason to be on course early, and it’s the headline of these Wagga racing tips.

It’s an eight race card on a Good surface, starting at 1:15PM with a 2500m staying test and finishing at 5:34PM with a 1000m sprint. Prices were only up for the first three races when this was written, so the later races are read on form, connections and track records alone. Expect a strong local flavour: Doug Gorrel has six runners across the day, Pierre Boudvillain rides in every race bar one, and Danielle Seib, the most reliable trainer at the track on the numbers, sends Urafiki to the Stan Sadleir Stakes. Below you’ll find the track setup, a race-by-race read, and where the money goes.

Reading the Wagga card

Course form is patchier than usual. Plenty of runners have one or two starts here, so the tables below only carry horses with four or more Wagga runs, and riders and trainers with real volume.

Horses with Wagga form

Horse Runs Wins Places Win% Place%
Ditterich 6 0 5 0.0 83.3
Elastane Miss 5 0 4 0.0 80.0
Mathrin 6 1 3 16.7 50.0
Distant Stripes 6 0 3 0.0 50.0
Sorry Sunshine 7 1 3 14.3 42.9
Iconic Rose 5 1 2 20.0 40.0

Jockeys

Jockey Runs Wins Places Win% Place%
Jean Van Overmeire 35 7 18 20.0 51.4
Teaghan Martin 12 3 6 25.0 50.0
Jordan Quince 7 2 3 28.6 42.9
Pierre Boudvillain 87 12 37 13.8 42.5
B McDougall 76 5 31 6.6 40.8
Carly Frater 42 7 16 16.7 38.1

Trainers

Trainer Runs Wins Places Win% Place%
A D Bourke 13 0 8 0.0 61.5
N J Osborne 10 1 6 10.0 60.0
Danielle Seib 31 9 17 29.0 54.8
Luke Pepper 29 5 13 17.2 44.8
Craig Weeding 18 2 8 11.1 44.4
T P Donnelly 33 5 13 15.2 39.4
Doug Gorrel 61 11 20 18.0 32.8

Two things stand out. Seib wins with nearly three in ten runners here, which is a big number off 31 starts. And Gorrel has the volume: 11 Wagga winners from 61 runners, more than anyone else on the card.

Wagga race by race

Race 1: Andersens Flooring Mountaineer Cup (Bm74), 1:15PM, 2500m

The market has Mr Fabulous at $2.70 with Unibet, and that’s a short quote for a horse without a win in six starts over the last three months. Sorry Sunshine is the one with momentum: two wins from the last four starts, three of them in the frame, and a form line that finishes 1, 1, 5. The track is no mystery either, with three placings, one a win, from seven Wagga starts, and Josh Richards rides for Doug Gorrel, a pairing that has won four of its 18 starts together.

Seven runners over 2500m rarely brings a breakneck pace, so a horse that can travel and kick from the turn is the profile, and Sorry Sunshine has won twice lately doing just that. Mr Fabulous is the danger because Pierre Boudvillain, the busiest rider at this track, takes the ride, but at the price the favourite is one to take on.

At $6.50 with Unibet, Sorry Sunshine is a win bet.

Race 2: Junee Prime Lamb Country Boosted Mdn Plate, 1:50PM, 1400m

Which maiden do you trust when the favourite has a form line of 8, 0, 2, 9, 7? To Dubai We Go is $2.45 with Unibet off a single second, and that’s too short. Divine Spark is more reliable, with three placings from four Wagga starts and recent figures of 2, 7, 2, 2, 3. The habit is finding a place without finishing it off, but barrier 2 with C J Parish aboard should mean the run of the race.

Inspiritu is the danger, placed at the only start of the last three months, and Braith Nock has placed on three of four rides here. At $4.40 with Unibet, Divine Spark is an each-way play rather than a confident win bet.

Race 3: Southern Cross Austereo Plate (C1), 2:25PM, 1600m

Masakari arrives off a last-start win and is the form horse in a weak Class 1: five starts in the last three months for two top-three finishes, one a win, plus a Wagga win from just two visits. B McDougall rides, a jockey who hits the frame four times in every ten rides here, a solid return for a rider with 76 Wagga mounts.

Crown The King heads the market at $3.00 with Unibet, but four runs this campaign have produced no win and the last three read 8, 5, 0. Bottas is the bigger threat. A winner at the only Wagga start, Bottas draws barrier 6 under Parish and is the one to beat if allowed to settle handy.

Masakari at $6.50 with Unibet is a win bet. Bottas at $4.00 goes in the exacta.

Race 4: Wdf Accounting & Advisory Mdn Hcp, 3:05PM, 1200m

Hard race. Several have never raced, and the ones that have aren’t strong. Surreal Retirement ran second at the only start so far, and that’s the best single piece of form in the field. Boudvillain jumps on for C D Widdison, who wins with 18% of Wagga runners. Barrier 16 is the catch, and over 1200m that can cost the race.

Ultrasonic is the danger with course knowledge: two placings from four starts here, and two from the last three runs. Watch race. A small win bet on Surreal Retirement on any drift, nothing more.

Race 5: Riverina Crane Services Hcp (C1) Heat Of The Rising Star, 3:40PM, 1200m

Three last-start winners make this one of the better contests on the card, and the speed map decides it. Hay Deer won the only start of the last three months, collecting $15,000 in prize money. Matthew Dale trains, Braith Nock rides, and barrier 6 is a good spot to work from.

Rebel Terra has the stronger recent haul, a third and then a win from two runs worth $18,150, and gets in light for Pat Murphy with Molly Bourke. That’s the danger and the main reason not to go too hard. Forjori, also a last-start winner, adds a third threat. Elastane Miss has never won here but has placed in four of five Wagga starts, which makes it the one for the trifecta.

Hay Deer to win, with Rebel Terra the saver.

Race 6: Elders Country Boosted Bragger Cup (Bm50), 4:20PM, 1600m

Michael Travers doesn’t put Carly Frater on many runners at Wagga, but when that happens, it’s gone well: three rides together here, all placed, one a win. Gettin’ Tipsy is the latest booking, and the best bet on the card.

Two wins from three starts in the last three months, a form line ending 1, 3, 1, and a spot at the bottom of the weights in a Benchmark 50. Frater is no passenger at this track either, with seven Wagga winners from 42 rides. Barrier 3 gives options, and a mile around here suits a horse that can hold a position and quicken.

The danger is Passing Through, a winner at one of two recent starts, and the $23,300 banked in that window says those were better races. Boy From Tennessee has won this campaign too, but carries the top weight and has finished 4, 5, 9 and 6 since two wins in a row.

Cinephile, also trained by Travers, is the place hope: seven runs this campaign for two placings, without a winning finish. Rasloc, also entered in Race 3, has placed twice from three recent runs.

Back Gettin’ Tipsy to win. If the market opens generously, it’s worth a bigger stake than anything else on the day.

Race 7: Coorparoo Park Stan Sadleir Stakes, 4:55PM, 1400m

Paparazzo is the horse in form: a winner at the only Wagga start, and two top-three finishes, one a win, from four runs in the last three months for $20,365 in prize money, the most of anyone in the race over that period. J Duffy rides for Craig Weeding, who places with 44% of Wagga runners.

Urafiki is the danger, and it comes down to the stable. Danielle Seib wins with 9 of 31 runners here and places with more than half. Urafiki‘s form is patchy, though: 7, 4, 9 at the last three runs, with one unplaced start in the last three months. If sharper for that run, S Guymer has the ride to make it count.

Mathrin is the course horse, with three placings, one a win, from six Wagga starts, but hasn’t placed in three recent runs. Paparazzo is the win bet and the banker for multis.

Race 8: Raising Hope With Steph (Bm66), 5:34PM, 1000m

Ditterich grinds and Rosie’s Prophecy wins. That’s the contrast in the last. Ditterich has placed in five of six Wagga starts without ever getting there, and the form line 2, 3, 2, 6, 2, 4 tells the same story. Rosie’s Prophecy has won both starts at the track, but has no runs in the last three months and finished ninth last time out.

The pick is Pietro Road: two top-three finishes, one a win, from three starts in the last three months, a second at the most recent run, and a win and a placing from two visits here. T P Donnelly has five Wagga winners from 33 runners, and Carly Frater gets the ride from barrier 1, which is gold over 1000m.

Win bet on Pietro Road. Ditterich each-way for anyone who wants a horse that rarely misses a place here.

Where the money goes

NAP: Gettin’ Tipsy (Race 6, 4:20PM). Two wins from three recent starts, the bottom weight in a Benchmark 50, and a rider who has won for the stable at this track before. Everything lines up.

Value: Sorry Sunshine (Race 1, 1:15PM). $6.50 with Unibet for a stayer who has won two of the last four, while the $2.70 favourite hasn’t won in six.

Banker: Paparazzo (Race 7, 4:55PM). The most prize money in the race over the last three months and a win at the only Wagga start.

Each-way: Ditterich (Race 8, 5:34PM). Five Wagga placings from six starts, so a place dividend is more likely than not.

Course angle: Carly Frater rides both Gettin’ Tipsy and Pietro Road. The Frater and Michael Travers pairing has placed every time at Wagga, and Frater has seven winners here from 42 rides.

If Seib keeps winning with three in ten Wagga runners, Urafiki won’t be the last Seib horse worth a second look at this track.
