Race 1: Sub-Zero Air Conditioning Installation & Services Mdn Hcp — 12:32PM, 875m
Mishani Honour carries topweight of 130kg in this 3yo maiden sprint, and the handicapper doesn’t hand that out for nothing; the form of 3-4-5 across her three runs is the most consistent line in the race. Trainer Donna Stanbridge hasn’t cracked a winner from sixteen runners at Warwick, which is worth flagging honestly rather than glossing over, but more than a third of them have placed, and jockey J L Taylor at least knows the way around this circuit. Weight at the top of the market usually means one thing in a maiden: this is rated the smartest horse in the field on what she’s shown.
The one to watch underneath is Russian Fantasy, who has raced just once for a sixth placing but carries a booking that says more than the form line does: trainer A & T Sweeney (three wins and seven places from seventeen runners here) has put Jess Emmerson on, and Emmerson’s own Warwick numbers back up the move. Troy Boy is the other one with a story: Kristie Clark-Peoples has managed a win and two places from four runners at this track, useful without being a trend yet. Divinelle grinds; Geisha Gal’s stable does the talking instead. Divinelle has finished runner-up in two of her last three starts (form of 4-2-2), a genuine placing trend rather than a fluke, and trainer Troy Pascoe backs it up with three wins and three places from seven runners at Warwick. That’s the horse with the more convincing on-track case in an eleven-runner maiden plate.
Geisha Gal is the one that makes you second-guess it, purely on stable strength. Matthew Hoysted is the standout conditioner at this circuit by some margin, and his numbers (already covered above) are specialist-level across eleven runners. Geisha Gal’s own recent form doesn’t match that yet, with only the one run inside the last ninety days for an unplaced run, so this is a case of trusting the stable over the horse’s own resume. Race 3: Sandy Creek Pub Warwick Cup Calcutta Fri 9 Oct Mdn Plate — 1:47PM, 1476m
Is there a confident view to be had in this twelve-runner maiden plate? Not really, and it’s better to say so than manufacture one. Worthy Stunnah gets the vote on stable strength alone: trainer Michael Morrison wins better than one in five of his Warwick runners and places more than half, genuine numbers from nine runs, even though Worthy Stunnah’s own form (a pair of runs for a 7th and a 4th) doesn’t add much on its own.
Testy Nic is the each-way alternative, third-up last start and from a stable, Kristie Clark-Peoples, that has managed a win and two places from four runners at Warwick, an emerging pattern rather than a trend just yet. Neither horse inspires total confidence. Small stakes only here, Worthy Stunnah the preference, with Testy Nic covered for place money.
Race 4: David Hynes WTC Thanks You For 7 Years Mdn Plate — 2:27PM, 1203m

Race 5: James Costello WTC Thanks You For 29 Years (BM62) — 3:04PM, 1640m
Two on-pacers and a stack of one-run maidens-turned-BM62 types make this one about the horse with the cleanest recent trend rather than the deepest resume. Heavenly Love has finished in the money in every one of her last three starts, winning one of them, and her only two Warwick runs read the same way: a win and a placing, nothing worse. That’s a small sample, but it’s an unbroken one, and trainer Michael Frappell’s jockey booking of N Fazackerley (the leading Warwick jockey by place rate) adds another layer to the case.
Drialle is the more seasoned danger. Trainer Renita Beaton sits on genuine numbers at this track (two wins and three places from five runners), and Drialle’s own record of five runs for a win and three places lines up with that. Zarippa is the horse to build the day around. She won her last start at Warwick on 10 September for trainer Jake Capewell and jockey Jess Emmerson, and that exact combination is back together again today – not a coincidence, a pattern. Together, Capewell and Emmerson have combined for two wins and three places from just four runners at this track (a 50% win rate and 75% place rate), and their overall partnership away from Warwick reads two wins and seven places from eight rides. Zarippa’s own numbers back all of it up: two wins and three places from three runs at Warwick, and across her last five runs anywhere she’s placed in every single one, with two of those wins, for an average finishing position of 2.2. That’s about as complete a picture as this card offers: a horse that wins here, ridden by a jockey in career-best form at the track, for a stable that has specifically found the winner’s stall together before.
Miss de Medici is the one with the profile to trouble her.
