Overview
Zavega has won three of its last four starts, and the stable that sends it out has turned Moree into a happy hunting ground. A & T Sweeney have won with three of their seven runners here, and B Looker has been aboard for three wins from five rides for the stable at this track. That combination closes the card in the last at 5:55PM, and it is the bet I would build the day around.
There is more to like than one sprinter, though. Melissa Dennett brings five runners to a track where three of ten Dennett starters have won, and two of them, Tralee and Winged, have already saluted here on their only visits. Eight races on a Soft track, a mix of maidens, two Class grades and three benchmark events, with the first jumping at 1:35PM. These Moree racing tips run race by race with a clear pick, the danger and a staking line in each, then finish with where the money goes.
Moree today: reading the card
The track is rated Soft for all eight races, and the scratchings have thinned a few fields. Fourteen runners are already out across the card, including Irama in the Bm66 and four from the last.
Limited course form across today’s fields. Most runners with any Moree history have one or two starts here, and only Gold Smiles and Jet Empress have been around three times. The riders and stables are a different story, with real volume behind them.

Moree racing tips: race by race
Race 1: Mcgowan Ac & Electrical & Geoff Peachey Mdn Plate, 1:35PM, 1039m
Points For Effort gets the nod in a maiden where nobody has a winning form line to lean on. The last run was a third, the best result of a slowly improving sequence, and B Looker takes the ride from barrier 6. Looker’s Moree record carries real weight in a race this weak.
The market can’t split the top of the order: Points For Effort and Commedia are both $4.60, with Tease The Breeze at $4.80 having its first start for S I Singleton. Commedia also ran third last time and drops to 57kg, which makes it the clear danger. Not So Wrong is worth a look at $12 for Holly Williams, whose runners have filled a placing four times from five starts here, and it placed on its only Moree visit.
Small win bet on Points For Effort at $4.60 with Unibet. Not a race to go big in.
Race 2: Allan Sutton Builders & Joinery Hcp (C2), 2:10PM, 1750m
Here the market looks wrong. Always A Rainbow is $2.15 with Unibet, and the case is fair enough: one win from four runs since August and a placing on its only Moree start. But the latest run was a seventh, and it carries 59.5kg.
Tralee is the one I want. Two wins from five starts since the start of August, a win on its only visit to Moree, and the latest run a third. Melissa Dennett trains, Ashley Butler rides, and Butler has won on three of eleven rides at this track. Tralee carries 56kg, three and a half kilos less than the favourite, over a trip where weight starts to bite on a Soft surface.
Endless Applause ($5.00) has two placings from its last three runs and is the other each-way chance. Abraham and Pappiana are scratched.
Each-way on Tralee at $8.00 with Bet Right. The favourite has to prove it can carry the weight.
Race 3: Dennis Sayers Fencing Country Boosted Mdn Hcp, 2:45PM, 1312m
How many thirds does a maiden need before it wins? Bundoran has finished third in its last three starts, placed on its only Moree visit, and has hit the frame in all three runs since August. That is a horse that keeps turning up and keeps running into something better. Today’s field may not have that something.
B Looker rides for Ridge Wilson from barrier 6 and the $3.00 with Bet Right is fair for a horse this reliable. The danger is Diacceto at $3.70, a lightly raced type from the Dennett stable that has had only three starts and ran seventh last time but gets Ashley Butler. Totally Underrated ($5.00) was second two starts back and could improve from barrier 2.
Bundoran to win, with a place saver. King Kookabaa is scratched.
Race 4: David Marshall Plumbing Mdn Plate, 3:25PM, 1531m
Hard to have a confident view in a 1531m maiden where no market is open yet. If forced, Post Mark on the strength of a second on debut. S I Singleton trains, Izzy Neale rides from barrier 2, and only one run of evidence is a thin base, but it is the best single result in the field.
Dekka’s Latest ran third at its only start since August and is the obvious danger. Gunna Wannabe for A & T Sweeney with B Looker aboard is worth noting given what that combination has done here, though it ran seventh last start. Mega Missile, second on debut, is scratched, which helps Post Mark.
Watch race. A small win bet on Post Mark only once prices are up.
Race 5: Squires Constructions Country Boosted (Bm58), 4:05PM, 1531m
More Cash won last start and has won here before, one win from two Moree visits. Ridge Wilson trains, Ashley Butler rides, and barrier 3 should let Butler settle close to the speed in a race with no obvious leader. That is the profile I want in a Bm58 on a Soft track: fit, winning, and comfortable at the venue.
The danger comes from the bottom of the weights. Gold Smiles carries only 53kg for Sally Torrens, and two of its three Moree runs have ended in the first three, one of them a win. Fifth last start, but the course record and the weight drop make it the each-way play. Johnny Boz has won two of its last three starts but drew barrier 11.
Win bet on More Cash, with a saver on Gold Smiles. South Eight is scratched.
Race 6: Moree Aluminium & Glass (Bm66), 4:40PM, 1312m
Dennett and Butler have teamed up twice at Moree for one win. Winged is their best chance to add to that. It won on its only start here, and its three runs since August read a win, a second and then a fourth last start. The horse is in form and back on a track that suits.
The scratching of Irama takes the 63kg topweight out of the race. Olufsen, at one win from three starts since August and a placing on its only Moree visit, is the danger from barrier 5 for MS L Selby, whose three runners here have all placed. Panta Rhei has won once from five recent starts but ran seventh last time.
Win bet on Winged once the market opens. This is the banker leg for multis.
Race 7: Pwd Plumbing & Heffernan Electrical Hcp (C1), 5:15PM, 1422m
Two horses, two different profiles, both live. Burning Ambition won last start, its only run since the start of August, and placed on its only Moree start. Tampa Bay has had eight runs since August for two wins, and comes off fourth after two straight wins. One is fresh and in form, the other is battle hardened.
I side with Burning Ambition. B Looker rides from barrier 2 for C K Martin, and 56kg is manageable in a C1. Tampa Bay, also 56kg, has no rider named yet, which leaves a question mark. Yanabah is the third option, placed on its only Moree visit for Melanie O’Gorman, whose runners have won two of four starts here.
Win bet on Burning Ambition. Penciller, Shahar and Tucklan are scratched, leaving a cleaner field.
Race 8: Hutchinson Builders (Bm66), 5:55PM, 1039m
This is the race of the day. Zavega has won three of its last four starts, and the one blip was a sixth. B Looker rides for A & T Sweeney, and that partnership has three wins from five rides at Moree with four placings, the best combination on the whole card. Zavega placed on its only start here, and barrier 2 at 1039m means Looker can take up a forward spot and control the race.
The danger is genuine. Peregrina Pearl has won both of its starts since August for Melissa Dennett and gets in with 54.5kg, three and a half kilos less than Zavega‘s 58kg. The weakness is the rider: Gabrielle Johnston has not won from ten rides at Moree. Still, a horse on a two-race winning streak with the Dennett stable behind it can’t be ignored, and if Peregrina Pearl finds the lead the race becomes a duel.
Soobooco has a win from four starts since August but carries topweight of 61.5kg. Kate’s Tiara has placed in three of five recent runs and is the best each-way outsider for P J Cunningham.
Speedy One, It Stays In Vegas, Denman Force and Divine Sinner are scratched, which removes some of the speed and suits Zavega even more. Back Zavega to win, with an exacta of Zavega over Peregrina Pearl.

Where the money goes
NAP: Zavega (Race 8, 5:55PM). Three wins from four, and the Looker and Sweeney partnership wins more often than not at this track. Barrier 2 in a sprint missing four runners is a good place to be.
Value: Tralee (Race 2, 2:10PM) at $8.00 with Bet Right. A Moree winner in form, carrying three and a half kilos less than a short-priced favourite coming off a seventh.
Banker: Winged (Race 6, 4:40PM). A win and a second from its three runs since August, and already a winner here. Safe enough to anchor a multi.
Each-way: Bundoran (Race 3, 2:45PM) at $3.00 with Bet Right. Three straight thirds means it rarely misses the frame, and this field is weaker than the ones it has been running into.
Course angle: follow B Looker. Looker’s six rides include Bundoran, Burning Ambition and Zavega, and more than half of Looker’s Moree mounts have finished in the first three. That is the cleanest angle in these Moree racing tips.
If Dennett keeps sending five runners to a meeting like this, that stable will be the first place to look every time Moree races.
