Black Caviar Lightning Final Field and Barrier Draw
Below is the final field and barrier draw assessment for the 2021 Black Caviar Lighting:
A final field of just eight runners has been announced for the 1000m sprint down the famous Flemington straight.
The James Cummings-trained four-year-old entire Bivouac is one of the acceptors for Saturday’s $750,000 feature. A winner of seven races from 19 starts, Bivouac was a dominant winner in November as he defeated Nature Strip by more than three lengths in the Group 1 Darley Sprint Classic (1200m). Bivouac has drawn barrier six with Glen Boss to ride.
Nature Strip will get his chance to turn the tables for trainer Chris Waller. Drawing gate two, Nature Strip will have a new jockey aboard with Jamie Kah taking the ride. Nature Strip won the Group 1 TJ Smith Stakes (1200m) last year and has won 14 times from 27 starts.
Another Waller runner is engaged with three-year-old filly September Run drawing barrier three. The filly won the Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes (1200m) beating Swats That who is also engaged in barrier eight.
Rounding out the field is Elite Street, Halvorsen, Pippie and Fabergino.
