The race is run under standard weight for age conditions and the winner of the feature event will be ballot exempt from the George Ryder Stakes and Doncaster Mile.

The final piece of the puzzle will become clearer on Wednesday, March 05 at 9:00am. This is the time and date that the 2025 Canterbury Stakes barrier draw and final field will be revealed.

Each horse is randomly allocated a barrier draw using the computer system program to generate the fields for thoroughbred racing.

In recent years, the Canterbury Stakes field has been quite small but there are always several quality gallopers that contest the 1300m race. Horses such as More Joyous and Pierro have been victorious in the Canterbury Stakes over the years.
