Is There A Draw Bias in the Futurity Stakes?

Most barriers from one to 10 have had their fair share of winners. Barrier seven is the most successful over the past four decades, while barrier eight has only had one winner since 1983.

For that reason, there isn’t an obvious bias apart from the fact that drawing gate 10 or lower is the best place to be, although this is often due to the field size so drawing wider may not be that much of a hindrance. For example, in recent years, Probabeel, Brave Smash and Turn Me Loose have won from barrier nine whilst Alizee was successful after starting from barrier 11.
