QUEEN ELIZABETH STAKES BETTING SNAPSHOT

Dubai Honour and Anamoe dominate the market with ladbrokes at the $2.40 and $2.60 respectively, while the Japanese galloper, Unicorn Lion, is next in line at the $11. The stablemate of Anamoe, Cascadian, is rated a $13 chance after his recent success in the Australian Cup. 

Montefilia is at $15, while Mo’unga and Zeyrek are both at $26. Value hunters can consider the likes of Numerian and Protagonist at $51, while El Patroness ($71), Gear Up ($101) and Hezashocka ($101) round out the 13-horse field. 

QUEEN ELIZABETH STAKES FORM ANALYSIS

Anamoe has won seven of his past eight starts with all of those coming at Group 1 level. His defeat came when fifth up in the spring in the Champions Stakes (2000m) at Flemington. The Godolphin galloper comes into this fourth up and won the Cox Plate (2040m) at this stage, going 11.9 lengths faster than standard benchmark. 

At his most recent run, he claimed the George Ryder Stakes (1500m), going just 5.5 lengths faster than standard. But that was after being posted wide off a slow tempo before showing great tenacity to edge out Fangirl. 

Dubai Honour has settled in well to Australia and was first up in the Ranvet Stakes (2000m), defeating the likes of Montefilia and Mo’unga by four lengths, which compares well too the margins that Anamoe has been producing against those horses. Montefilia has since come out and finished a narrow runner-up in the Tancred Stakes (2400m)

Best last start benchmark figures come out of the Australian Cup (2000m) with Cascadian going 14.7 lengths faster than standard off a hot tempo to take out the Flemington Group 1 from Numerian, while Hezashocka (5th) and El Patroness (11th) were also in action. 

The winner overcame a bit of traffic in the straight to produce the fastest last 200m, while Numerian led and stuck on. Hezashocka was also held up but seemed to peak late. That should top him off nicely and worth noting that the Mick Price and Michael Kent Jnr-trained galloper finished ahead of Anamoe in the Champions Stakes last year when 3rd.

 El Patroness also didn’t enjoy a clear crack at them in the Australian Cup and might have featured in the finish. 

Outside of Dubai Honour there are four other runners with recent overseas form. Three of those have had at least one run in Australia and they are Alenquer, Protagonist and Gear Up. They will need to show improvement. Unicorn Lion is a Japanese galloper that brings a bit of X-factor to the table. 

He might take up the running and couldn’t quite go with them over the 2400m in the Japan Cup but races well over the 2000m and is a multiple Group 3 winner in his homeland. 

QUEEN ELIZABETH STAKES TIPS AND BEST BETS

The big question is how do we line up the form of Anamoe over the international gallopers, particular Dubai Honour. Willing to stick with the local and think that fourth up over the 2000m suits. He peaked on Cox Plate day at this stage last year and his figures do compare well to what Dubai Honour produced recently. The danger might be Unicorn Lion but it is always a bit of an unknown how the foreigners have settled in.
