Victoria Derby Final Field & Barrier Draw

Victoria Derby Barrier Draw

The all-important Victoria Derby barrier draw took place on Tuesday morning with 14 three-year-olds set to line up in the $2 million Flemington feature.

Trainer Danny O’Brien saddles up three strong chances in the race including race favourite Young Werther who has drawn ideally in gate 4 for Damien Oliver.

The son of Tavistock was narrowly defeated by Khoekhoe last start, and that galloper was subsequently defeated by Cherry Tortoni in the Vase (2040m) at Moonee Valley last Saturday.

Trained by Patrick Payne, Cherry Tortoni has drawn the outside gate in the field of 14.

Fresh from a Cox Plate win, trainers Ciaron Maher and David Eustace will be looking to keep the ball rolling with their promising Dundeel colt Let’s Karaka Deel.

He was outgunned by the Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young-prepared Albarado in the Norman Robinson Stakes (2000m) and will be looking to turn the tables this time around.

Busuttin and Young also saddle up Wertheimer who has drawn gate 6 and will be ridden by Hugh Bowman.
