Winterbottom Stakes Nominations – Where It All Begins
Nominations for the 2024 Winterbottom Stakes will be released on October 14, 2024.
The Winterbottom Stakes is Perth’s premier sprint race and around 90% of the field is generally made up of local sprinters. Some interstate gallopers will make the trip west to contest the Winterbottom Stakes.
Interstate sprinters that have travelled over to win the Winterbottom Stakes in the past include Takeover Target, Ortensia, Buffering (twice), Viddora, Voodoo Lad and Hey Doc.
Winterbottom Stakes Barrier Draw – When, Where and How Does It Work?
The Winterbottom Stakes barrier draw is often conducted on a Tuesday, the day after the final field is declared.
It is held in Western Australia as that is where the race is run. Horses are drawn at random and connections of the horse will then try and pick out a favourable barrier from the table where the draw is being conducted.

Is There A Draw Bias in the Winterbottom Stakes?
There is no obvious barrier draw bias for the Winterbottom Stakes.
