Race 3 No. 11 ERSA – ($1.75)
ERSA stuck to the task well at her second career start and can go a couple of spots better stepping up to the 1600m in this assignment. The Team Hayes-trained galloper endured a tough run on debut over the 1100m when caught wide, finishing 12th, but showed improvement over the 1300m when 3rd behind Grinzinger Belle at Sandown on September 13. She was held up in the straight in that race before finishing two lengths away. This looks easier and the daughter of Lonhro has attracted support in the early betting, while the step to the 1600m looks to be in her favour.

Race 5 No. 7 MATRIARCH ROSE – ($2.45)
This looks to be a suitable assignment for MATRIARCH ROSE. The four-year-old transferred to the Dan O’Sullivan stable earlier this year and has had one run since then, resuming with a 4th behind Sistine Explorer. She settled just worse than midfield that day before running on strongly. At her only second up run, the daughter of Epaulette improved more than eight lengths on benchmark figures when going from a Ipswich Maiden win to a 4th behind Yellow Brick at Eagle Farm. A firmer in the early betting, she can measure up here.

Race 2 No. 12 EXALTED DAME – ($3.45)
GUMDROPS can go close in Race 2. The Mick Price & Michael Kent Jnr-trained galloper has had just the one career run and stepped out as a $1.60 favourite at Sale over the 1013m back on June 22 but could only manage 3rd behind Orion The Hunter. The winner out of that went on to place in town, while the runner-up has won two since. Gumdrops went 0.1 lengths faster than standard benchmark, which is more than four lengths better than what any runner in this race has produced. With improvement to come at her second start, the daughter of Written Tycoon should be hard to beat.
