Bendigo Tips for Thursday, September 14

BEST BET 🏆 (WIN)

Race 4 No. 5 CO CO VAN WINKLE- ($3.90)

CO CO VAN WINKLE can go close in Race 4. The Hayes galloper is yet to win in six starts but went close at Geelong two starts ago when pipped on the post by Fly Lie over the 1512m. Those two put a five length gap on the rest of them. At her most recent start, the daughter of Rip Van Winkle went hard out in front and didn’t enjoy much piece before going down in the last 100m to run 4th over the 1765m behind Jennivamoose at Geelong. She drops back to the 1600m and pace looks moderate up front. The four-year-old should be in it for a long way.

NEXT BEST 🥈 (WIN)

Race 3 No 12 COPACABANA – ($4.20)

COPACABANA shapes as an interesting contender in Race 3 of the day at Bendigo. The Team Hawkes-trained galloper has attracted a heap of support in the early betting and resumes in this race. At his only start, the son of Toronado settled back in the field of 11 before producing the fastest last 600m to place 3rd behind Piercing Arrow. Form out of that race has been encouraging and he went 1.6 lengths slower than standard benchmark, which is the second best figure that any horse in this race has produced. Jye McNeil rides and will bide his time from barrier 11 with a few of these to go forward and hopefully set things up.
