BEST BET 🏆 (WIN)  

Race 1 No. 6 NORTH CHANNEL – ($2.40)

NORTH CHANNEL can get the job done in the opener. The Team Hayes-trained galloper has had the two career starts for a couple of runner-up performances. The most recent of those came at the track and trip and he was posted three wide throughout before sticking on to land three lengths off Roadie, who had pinched a break. The son of Pierro went five lengths slower than standard benchmark, which is a better figure than what any horse in this race has produced. He can improve off that and gets the ride from Craig Williams. 

NEXT BEST 🥈 (WIN) 

Race 3 No 4 MANTUA – ($3.40)

MANTUA gets his chance in Race 3. The Maher/Eustace galloper didn’t quite get the 1100m at Bendigo two starts ago then was held up in the straight at Moonee Valley over the 1000m on August 12 in what was a complete forget run. His other two runs were in town and he performed well in those. All up, he has gone three lengths or more faster than standard benchmark in three of his four runs. The son of Fastnet Rock should be winning if he brings anything near his A-game.
