Race 5:  No.6  IMPROPER  ($4.80 with Palmerbet)

Locally-trained by Donna Scott, IMPROPER is second-up today and on her home track, looks in the mix to bring up her third career win here. Last start, the Starspangledbanner mare resumed off a 12-week spell and wasn’t disgraced when finishing fifth (beaten less than a length) in a Class 2 Hcp, here over 1175m. Simon Miller was aboard that day and has the reins again for this contest. The five-year-old has had five starts on wet tracks for both career wins and as many minor placings so today’s conditions will suit. She is a track specialist and already a winner when second-up, she should prove hard to hold out today.

Race 2:  No.4  FINAL COMMENT  ($2.70 with bet365)

The Nick Olive-trained FINAL COMMENT is in great touch since resuming and looks well placed here to put in a challenge for victory today. Last start, the Hellbent gelding came off his Maiden win at Nowra when he took on Class 1 company and wasn’t disgraced when finishing fourth in the 1400m contest. With Billy Owen aboard, he box-seated to the turn and fought on gamely to finish less than two lengths from the winner. Owen sticks with him here and after three previous rides is still in search of a win with the three-year-old. Rock-hard fit after three starts this time in, Owen gets his chance to break the drought today.

Race 6:  No.8  LIPSTICK SWING  ($8.50 with Ladbrokes)

The Wagga-based LIPSTICK SWING is third-up today and ticks enough boxes to suggest she is a tad ‘overs’ with the bagmen here. Last start, the American-sired mare came off a big first-up win on her home track when she finished mid-field in a BM65 Hcp over 1000m at Canberra. The 60.5kgs took its toll that day as she was pushed forward to lead on settling and just ran out of juice in the last 200m. Trainer Tim Donnelly has fitted winkers here for the first time and has booked Danny Beasley to take the reins for the first time. She is one from one at the track and has two wins on wet tracks to her name on her resume. Fitter for those two runs back, she looks good value in this contest.
