BEST BET 🏆   

Race 2 No. 2 HUGHIE ($1.95) 

HUGHIE is the one to beat in Race 2. The Simon Wilde-trained galloper has finished runner-up in three of his four career starts and was sent out at Hamilton when resuming on November 10, just going down late behind Trustful. He was costly that day as a $1.45 pop but went 0.8 lengths slower than standard benchmark, which is a better figure than what any horse in this race has produced and eight lengths better than the class average. Dean Yendall will look to keep him out of trouble from the wide barrier and push up. The pair will be hard to beat.

Race 7 No. 3 SHE’S PRETTY RICH- ($3.60) 

This looks to be a winnable assignment for SHE’S PRETTY RICH. The four-year-old has not won in over a year but was close up in a number of starts in harder company than this at her last preparation. She was placed in a series of runs in the city and at the first start of her last preparation, the Matthew Brown-trained galloper was runner-up at the track and trip. A firmer in the early betting, she benefits from a number of scratchings after originally drawing off the track.

Race 8 No. 4 NOLAN- ($4.40) 

ONE REASON can end the day a winner. Another from the Symon Wilde stable, the four-year-old has placed in four of five runs this preparation and has been unlucky in a few of those. At his latest, the son of Capitalist stepped up to the 1600m at Ararat and made steady ground out wide to place 3rd behind Eishaa. He won’t be far away in the run and should be fighting out the finish.
