Armidale Tips for Sunday, November 12

Our form expert provides Armidale tips for today’s horse racing at Armidale Racecourse and gives his best bets.

BEST BET 🏆

Race 6:  No.4  BUFFET BUSTER  ($3.80 with Picklebet)

The locally-trained BUFFET BUSTER has had no luck this preparation, finishing bridesmaid in three of his five starts, but gets his chance to turn things around on his home track today. Last start, the Snitzel gelding picked up his 8th career runner-up cheque when he beat all but one home in the Jacaranda Cup over 1100m at Grafton (after finishing second in the Jacaranda Prelude the start prior to that). Ash Morgan has been with him for 12 of his 32 career starts and is the pilot for this assignment today. He loves racing here, boasting a win and three second-prize finishes and looks well placed here in gate five. Rock-hard fit after five starts in, he can give this a real shake today.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 5:  No.4  TURNAWAY  ($4 with bet365)

Cameron Crockett saddles-up TURNAWAY here who is second-up and ready to rock. Last start, the Star Turn gelding was fresh off a lengthy 20-week break when in need of the run, finished fifth in a Class 1 Hcp over 1300m on his home track at Scone. Mitch Stapleford has his first ride on the five-year-old today and brings with him a 3kg claim, dropping the galloper’s weight to just 55.5kgs, a half kilo over the limit. He has drawn wide (gate 9) but his early gate speed has him settling in the first half-dozen. Crockett takes the blinkers off today and placed twice in three previous second-up runs, he will strip fitter here and should be a force in the run home.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 3:  No.2  NICATOR  ($5.50 with Ladbrokes)

The Stephen Jones-trained NICATOR is in top-form this time in and looks a solid chance of back-to-back victories today. Last start, the Nicconi gelding had Darryl McLellan on board for the second time and together, they did best in the end to take out a BM50 Hcp over the mile at Narromine. He drops 2.5kgs here and gets the gun-run from gate one as well. McLellan sticks with him for this contest and with a trouble-free run, he should be there at the finish.
