BEST BET 🏆
Race 10 No. 9 SALOON BAR – ($5)
There was a lot to like about the way SALOON BAR bucked the trend to score a come from behind win at Ascot. Most of the winners came from on the speed yet Jarrad Noske found himself coming back on Saloon Bar to get in from their outside alley. Their cause wasn’t helped by a lack of pace or pressure up front, and Saloon Bar was ultra-impressive in the way he let down up the middle of the track. Saloon Bar raced past his opposition inside the 100m to score an impressive victory. We were on last week as Jarrad Noske found nowhere to go into the straight from an inside gate. Saloon Bar effectively went around without having a run and we just can’t sit back and watch him win on Saturday without having something on.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 2 No. 11 COUNT THE SESSIONS – ($7.50)
There was no market support for COUNT THE SESSIONS who was racing first-up at Ascot Racecourse with a little over two months between runs. Clint Johnston-Porter found a spot third-last the fence early before having nowhere to go into the straight. Count The Sessions never came off the bridle as he continued to make ground between horses. He is a consistent galloper who usually takes a few runs to find his best. Showed that the first-up run was no one-off with a rattling run behind the impressive Yonga Lass last start. Count The sessions has found himself with a favourable draw while the mare could be posted from her alley on Saturday.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 9 No. 12 GO FORWARD – ($49)
Not much went right towards the back end of the card for those horses searching for room closer to the rail. Brad Parnham tried to come away from that area and look for runs further out with GO FORWARD. He got onto the back of the winner Hot Zed on straightening with Jason that horse grinding into the race. Go Forward was going too well for him with Brad then searching for runs back to the inside of Hot Zed. They were only coming back onto him with Parnham forced to check off heels with Go Forward before eventually finding clear running nearing the 50m. Go Forward had been largely untested for much of the straight to finish behind the placegetters. Can surprise as one for the multiples while up in grade in the Winterbottom from an ideal gate.
