Ascot Tips 3/05/2023

BEST BET 🏆

Race 1 No. 4 TENACIOUS REWARD – ($3.20)

Weight rise and out to 1800m first time appear the main obstacles for TENACIOUS REWARD at Ascot on Wednesday. Chased home Stella Vista over 1400m before finishing late over 1600m behind Catch These Hands. Both of those horses have come out and won in Saturday grade again since. Holy Watson had nowhere to go into the straight as Tenacious Reward stayed to the mile last start. Paul Roberts calls on senior rider Clint Johnston-Porter while sending Tenacious Reward back to the midweeks.  This could turn into a tactical affair with a small field over 1800 metres. We’ll back the Hyphenator to stalk a few of these into the run with Tenacious Reward showing the best turn of foot.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 6 No. 7 FLOPPY- ($6.50)

Ascot trainer Neville Parnham finds a race of similar class for FLOPPY who fares better at the barrier draw here. Seemed to get through at the right time before being swamped in a blanket finish over this track and trip. Disappointed next run over 1650m before finishing late over this track and trip again last start. Floppy had settled towards the tail of the small field who walked that day and became left when they sprinted. Floppy really got going on the soft track nearing the 100m to only go down half a length to Manavendra. Should be better suited back on top of the ground with better pressure in front at Ascot on Wednesday.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 2 No. 7 LITTLE SILVER – ($7.50)

The second race on the card looks messy for some and, we’ll have an each-way play on LITTLE SILVER. Trainer Steve Wolfe has Little Silver out to 1400 metres first time following two promising runs this time in. Comes out that fast run race behind Ruler Rocket and Military Power when first-up over 1100 metres. They ran time again at Ascot when racing over the 1200 metres and coming on late behind Pompey. Awkward draw for Shaun McGruddy to navigate tomorrow with seemingly little pressure in the race. Little Silver is progressing well though and is the most likely of these to want 1400m right now.
