BEST BET 🏆
Race 4 No. 1 CITY ANGEL – ($5)
Ascot trainer Steven Ryan has been waiting for the stars to align for CITY ANGEL who continually finds one better. His mare should simply be too fast for them on her home deck on Wednesday. Maddi Derrick needs to allow her horse to run from yet another carpark draw, and we expect City Angel to cross to a clear lead. There was no such luck in being able to do so last start when trapped wide without cover. That was a much stronger field with Bonnie Lad skirting back to the inside and coming away and to score. City Angel ran a big race on the speed to secure second place. She was racing with four weeks between runs and this is a sharp drop in class for City Angel on Wednesday.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 3 No. 8 RED TORI – ($2.60)
The Jason Miller trained maiden galloper RED TORI is bound to find popularity amongst the punters as she meets a similar field to last start. Red Tori has been sent out as the popular elect in both career starts. She settled back off a fast tempo before running on okay as the winner Weeraechoux left her behind. That race has worked out okay and Weeraechoux wasn’t beaten far in Listed grade over the weekend. Five Down found the easy leas and proceeded to walk out in front over as Red Tori stepped to 1400m. Red Tori kept coming as Five Down shortened stride inside the 100m. She just missed the winner to run second while turning the tables on Weeraechoux who ran third. Five Down is expected to meet some more pressure on the speed from Riseanfall which should play into the hands of Brad Parnham on Red Tori.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 7 No. 2 BUSTERS FREE – ($11)
The Zephenator has been riding well which he will need to be in order to get BUSTERS FREE home for David Harrison on Wednesday. Zephen Johnston-Porter is probably on the right horse as Buster’s Free attempts to win beyond 1000m for the first time. ZJP will have to deal with a tricky gate where he’ll have little choice except to ride for luck. Busters Free can be a little slow into stride as he was last start before spearing through on the fence to grab third behind Bonnie Lad over 1000m. There’s an abundance of pace and pressure over the 1200m here with a few horses expected to be coming back onto them as the pressure comes on. Johnston-Porter can perhaps follow his dad on Budgerigar, or maybe Chris Parnham on Lucky Landing as he attempts to build Busters Free into the race.
