Ascot Tips 20/12/2023

BEST BET 🏆

Race 7 No. 12 QUEEN ALINA – ($4.60)

Time between wins is starting to drag for QUEEN ALINA who is often hampered by her own get back and run on style. Chris Parnham was forced to hold-up on her and wait for a run as the winner Be Optimistic went around them on turning. Queen Alina ran home okay once clear to finish alongside Black Fantasy who held third along the fence. That horse found another cheap lead to hold on and score from the fast-finishing Queen Alina last start. There are a couple of horses engaged on Wednesday who may keep Black Fantasy honest towards the front. This could play into the hands of Parnham on Queen Alina who has a 3kg weight swing over Black Fantasy for this race.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 3 No. 4 SNIPPENOVA – ($3.80)

Brayden Gaerth rated SNIPPENOVA a treat out in front as the pair jumped straight to the front in a Class One race over this track and trip last start. The mare came back underneath Gaerth when asked after beginning brilliantly before giving them the slip on straightening. Snippenova was well clear of Empress Of India before she began to tire late inside the 100 metres. The time she ran should see her well placed as trainer David Harrison steps her out to a Class Three race on Wednesday.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 1 No. 1 SILVER EYE – ($15)

Happy to take the price about the Adam Durrant trained SILVER EYE who is resuming at Ascot Racecourse on Wednesday. This horse ran a good race on debut when finishing second under Zephen Johnston-Porter. The pair were forced to race without cover while tracking three-wide on the speed. ZJP found a response from Silver Eye when changing the whip back through to his left hand. They were never going to hold out Native Flower who ran past with momentum. They did manage to get over the others for second which had the punters backing Silver Eye into even money second-up. Silver Eye finished over the top of sharp sprinter Just So Sassy before going out for a spell. Has run sharp time since in a recent barrier trial and gets the claim for Brayden Gaerth.
