Ascot Tips 25/11/2023

BEST BET 🏆

Race 9 No. 7 SALOON BAR – ($6.50)

There was a lot to like about the way SALOON BAR bucked the trend to score a come from behind win at Ascot. Most of the winners came from on the speed yet Jarrad Noske found himself coming back on Saloon Bar to get in from their outside alley. Their cause wasn’t helped by a lack of pace or pressure up front, and Saloon Bar was ultra-impressive in the way he let down up the middle of the track. Saloon Bar raced past his opposition inside the 100m to score an impressive victory. Noske now finds a race with lots of pace and pressure plus the luxury of an inside draw.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 3 No. 2 CURRIMUNDI – ($5.50)

The Steven Wolfe trained CURRIMUNDI was run off his feet with a frantic pace being set up front as he resumed over 1200 metres. Shaun McGruddy was able to help him into his stride as the field straightened for home. The race was well and truly over by that time for Currimundi who impressed in the way in which he hit the line late. Wolfe then took a well-deserved throw at the stumps by sending Currimundi around in the Lee Steere Stakes over 1400 metres. His horse ran well without ever threatening and Currimundi will appreciate coming back to the grade he won third-up last prep.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 8 No. 16 THE VELVET QUEEN – ($23)

Lark Hill trainer Darren McAuliffe had THE VELVET QUEEN two quiet trials leading into her first-up assignment in the Lee Steere Stakes over 1400m. She raced a little fresh under Patrick Carbery towards the rear of the field as they flew along in front. Carbery found nothing to take him into the race as the pressure began to build inside the 600m and so had to bide his time until straightening. The Velvet Queen was a minute off them at that point and really pleased in the way that she hit the line late. The Velvet Queen is a quality race mare who will only improve and can be finishing hard over the top of them late.
