Race 4 No. 1 CORAL EMPEROR – ($2.50)
CORAL EMPEROR can go one spot better than a debut effort that saw him finish a narrow runner-up behind Rockeby Road on the Ballarat Synthetic on July 4. Those two went strode for stride and the Clayton Douglas-trained galloper missed out in a head-bobber but put a seven length gap on the rest of them. He can make the transition to the turf and went a promising 1.3 lengths slower than standard at his debut, which is a better figure than what any horse in this race has produced. Lachlan King rides and just needs to negotiate the wide barrier.

Race 3 No 10 IMPEL- ($23.50)
Not a particularly strong maiden and IMPEL can be an improver at a bit of a price. The three-year-old battled on the Synthetic at Pakenham last time but was ok behind Grinzinger Abbey prior to that when resuming at Sale. She comes into this third up from a spell and was solid in some harder races at this stage of her last preparation when trained by Grahame Begg. The daughter of Impending draws to get a nice run from barrier 4 and can be a surprise packet.
