Balaklava 13/09/2023

BEST BET 🏆

Race 3 No. 13 ANABOLIC ($6.25)

Morphettville trainer Chris Bieg sent ANABOLIC around on the Parks track for her debut run which was over 1000 metres. The filly had drawn poorly giving Teagan Voorham little option but to come back shortly after the start. Teagan afforded Anabolic a nice enough run throughout despite having to race against the pattern of the day. She managed to save ground back to the inside with Anabolic who finished the race off in a professional manner. The extra trip should suit and Voorham can find a good run in transit for Anabolic off a kind draw.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 2 No. 5 MYSTIC KNOT ($4.20)

Kayla Crowther did not find the best of luck on MYSTIC KNOT as the pressure came on at Murray Bridge last start. We were on Transzam with some confidence as that horse was drawn to receive the perfect run under Todd Pannell. Kayla had been following Pannell for much of it and just needed an out somewhere inside the 600m. There were no runs presenting as she switched off heels to find Pomodoro falling back into her lap. Meanwhile Todd had sent Transzam out after the leader with victory appearing imminent. Transzam seemed to peak on his run while out to 2000m for the first time with the leader kicking back to score. Crowther eventually found room back to the inside with Mystic Knot who finished the race off for third.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 6 No. 9 MISS REMSKI ($5.50)

It would seem the lure of riding up-and-coming mare MISS REMSKI has proved strong enough to wrench Teagan Voorham from the saddle of Perfect Command. We’ll look to Teagan to rejoin with the ever-green sprinter during the up-coming Port Lincoln season. Meanwhile, Peter Hardacre has found a good race back to the provincials for Miss Remski. She should find a map advantage under a positive minded Voorham while also striping fitter third-up. Both races Miss Remski has competed in since resuming boasts some depth and she will appreciate coming back to provincial grade. A lot depends on how much they water the track overnight; however, we are expecting Balaklava Racecourse to race best near the fence while quickening up on the speed as the day goes on.
