Race 3 No. 2 FANMALIA – ($5.50)

Tough grinding type FANMALIA has drawn to put himself into the race early at Balaklava Racecourse on Wednesday. Fanmalia is having his first prep for Sandie Brennan following a successful career around country and provincial New South Wales. Ran on late first-up over 1200 metres in a benchmark 68 in town before stepping up to a mile. He was okay when beaten three lengths from the winner in another benchmark 68 race at Morphettville. Gradually worked his way forward last start before hitting the front into the straight. Fanmalia continued to grind away as he was being swamped late by Lomax and Co. Fitter and well-placed back to provincial grade, and Fanmalia can be there for a long way.

Race 4 No. 1 SAVILLE – ($4.70)

Greg Lesnikowski & Ryan Hannemann can land their next winner with SAVILLE who is coming back in grade. He will be fitter and nearing his peak following three honest performances this time in. Found Shirshov too sharp around the smaller Parks track over 1000 metres before bumping into that horse again. This time Saville lobbed out the back early over 1100 metres on the outer track. Jeff Maund cut the corner with Saville to build into the race along the inside fence. They weren’t beaten far that day from Shirshov then backed that up with another handy effort behind Celsius Star. Rochelle Milnes will be looking to weave Saville into the clear on Wednesday and will be suited by the expected pressure up front.

Race 7 No. 1 RUN AND TELL – ($5)

Britney Wong may find another clear lead on RUN AND TELL as she did when the pair scored here last start. That race too was late in the day and Britney had the field strung out while controlling the tempo. She upped the ante on turning for home with Run And Tell fending off the challenge from Obelos into the straight. Run And Tell had four weeks between runs that day and put a fair margin back to the third horse. Trainer Jon O’Connor has placed him superbly here a fortnight later in what looks a similar race. Run And Tell is a consistent galloper and can figure in the finish yet again.
