BEST BET 🏆 (WIN)
Race 7 No. 3 HE’S ESSENTIAL- ($3.70)
HE’S ESSENTIAL can be an improver in Race 7. The Peter Moody-trained galloper overraced over the 1200m on the Pakenham Synthetic on June 2 when fading late in to 7th behind Diesel N Dust. That came in a BenchMark 70 and he finished four lengths off them, going 1.1 lengths slower than standard, which is the best last start figure of any runner. Third up last time, the son of I Am Invincible improved seven lengths on figures when an unlucky 3rd at Moonee Valley. He draws barrier 3 for this assignment and the drop back to the 1000m suits.

Race 6 No 2 HESKET- ($4.85)
HESKET is worth thought in Race 6. The Matthew Ellerton-trained galloper resumed at Mornington on May 31 over the 1200m and settled last of the 12 runners on what was a very slow tempo before working home well for 6th, beaten just over three lengths. The son of Fastnet Rock will strip fitter for this and drops slightly in grade. He draws the inside barrier and just needs to stay within striking distance early on.

Race 8 No. 1 DIESEL ‘N’ DUST- ($4.10)
Sticking with DIESEL N DUST in Race 8. The five-year-old loves the Synthetic and resumed with a win at Paknehm on June 2, overcoming trouble at the top of the straight to win by a length from All England. He looks to have come back in good order and has the speed to overcome the wide barrier, while he gets the big claim for Melissa Salter.
BEST VALUE 💰(EACH-WAY)
Race 5 No 11 SAVOIE- ($10)
SAVOIE represents a bit of value in Race 5. The seven-year-old lined up at the track and trip on June 13 and settled outside the leader, sticking on well before eventually running 3rd behind Mr Mischief. He did a bit of the early work in that race and was a sitting duck late in the piece. The son of Ilivethiscity meets the winner 2kg better at the weights and that pair come in with the best last start benchmark figures of any runner. He will settle on the speed from the barrier and is worth thought at the price.
