Ballarat Tips 23/11/2023

BEST BET 🏆

Race 7 No. 6 HEAD’EM ($2.45)

HEAD’EM can go a couple of spots better than a first up effort that saw him place 3rd at Warrnambool on November 2 over the 1200m. The Lindsey Smith-trained galloper settled minefield in that race and was held up at a vital time before producing the fastest late splits. The winner out of that race, Precious Charm, has since come out and scored at Flemington on Oaks Day. Head’Em should have improvement to come at his second run back and will be ridden by Beau Martens, who strikes at 21% for the stable, providing a 20% profit on turnover for punters.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 8 No. 13 PLENTY OF AMMO- ($4.60)

PLENTY OF AMMO can end the day a winner. The Symon Wilde-trained galloper is the second emergency for this and just needs to sneak into the field. She heads to this on the fresh side after an impressive effort that saw her score from Three Grand at Warrnambool over the 1000m in late September. Those two put a big gap on the rest and she overcame a wide run that day. The five-year-old comes in with a winning trial in preparation for this.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 4 No. 2 GUNDAROO- ($6.50)

Market might be the best guide prior to the jump but GUNDAROO is worth something in Race 4. The five-year-old has had just the one career start and that came at Seymour over the 1200m back in May. He settled midfield in that race and the leaders pinched a break but he made good ground to place 3rd. The Peter Smith-trained galloper comes into this with a nice trial performance at his home track of Benalla and should be strong late in the piece.
