Race 2 No. 4 HAALAND- ($2.05)

HAALAND should be hard to beat in Race 2 at Ballarat. The former Kiwi has had three runs this time in with two of those coming at Ballarat over the 2100m and he has finished runner-up in both of those. The four-year-old loomed to win on June 13 but was overpowered late by Rise To Stardom, while there was a five length gap back to the 3rd placegetter. He comes in with the best last start benchmark figures of any runner in this race and draws to save plenty of ground in the run from barrier 1 with John Allen to ride.

Race 6 No 2 SMOKEY WARRIOR- ($2)

SMOKEY WARRIOR can just about make it two wins from as many starts when he steps out in Race 6. The four-year-old made her debut at the track and trip on May 27 and settled midfield before clearing out and powering away to win by more than three lengths from Zatarmey. Question marks over those she defeated but the locally trained galloper comes in with the second best last start benchmark figures of any runner, while she should have improvement to come at her second start.

Race 8 No. 8 STARDOM AWAAYTS- ($3.20)

STARDOM AWAAYTS can turn the tables on Dancethenightaway after going down to that horse on June 13. The three-year-old was posted wide without cover throughout the 1500m race but kept coming in the straight, finishing less than a length away. He meets the winner 2kg better at the weights and draws barrier 4 this time around, while it is worth noting that the son of Tosen Stardom was a dominant winner at his only other run on he surface.
