BEST BET 🏆

Race 9 No. 8 CATEGORY THREE – ($3.80)

Karnup trainer Adam Durant will be hoping for better luck with CATEGORY THREE who looked a certainty beaten when racing second-up last time in. We wrote Category Three straight into the #WABlackbookers file after being strung-up for a run off the slow tempo. The young mare at the time displayed a professional manner when caught up between runners which allowed her to sprint through the gaps as they presented. She just missed her stablemate Real Danger on that occasion and now strikes a race with plenty of early pace and pressure. Category Three resumed in the best possible way with a win over this track and distance has since been kept fresh with a month between runs.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 1 No. 1 ROPE THEM IN – ($4.60)

Peter Knuckey will have to overcome a low-percentage barrier draw as he partners ROPE THEM IN for Steve Wolfe on Saturday. This horse was sensationally backed when settling towards the tail on debut. He still looked to have no chance of winning as they raced inside the furlong before Rope Them In pinged the ears back to have a real crack. Rope Them In did exactly that in nailing Why Me on the line to win over 1000 metres here at Belmont. Followed up with another strong run-on performance when getting out to 1200 metres second-up. Rope Them In has yet to draw a decent gate in his two career starts while still managing to impress in both.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 4 No. 9 BREAD TO FLIRT – ($13)

We have followed BREAD TO FLIRT at per past couple of preps and she was sharp when racing first-up at Belmont. They didn’t go all that hard in front as Clint Johnston-Porter snagged her back from their wide draw. Bread To Flirt showed her customary turn of foot into the straight on a day where horses were able to make ground from the back. Fellow #WABlackbookers horse Ultimate Command came from just off the speed to score with Bread To Flirt finishing hard into second. She’s still lightly benchmarked and the Gangemi Brothers placed her to advantage again.
