Belmont 12/07/2023

BEST BET 🏆

Race 1 No. 4 ZENIQUE – ($3.60)

We’re leaning to leaning to Zenique over Ancient Guidance in the opener at Belmont Racecourse on Wednesday. There doesn’t seem to be a lot else amongst the experienced brigade to upset these two. The unraced Chollima looks like a horse who will win some races, she’s just doing a bit wrong early in her trials to be able to suggest as a bet. Pace would appear to be sedate in this so rider tactics will play a role. We’ve got Holly Watson on Zenique who will likely go forward early. He showed plenty in two trials under Watson before Mitchell Pateman sent him around over 1200 metres here for his debut run. Zenique remained in the hunt throughout to be beaten less than two lengths to Red Square in sharp time. Watson will give Zenique every chance to see out the 1400 metres second-up, and the pair should be going very close to winning.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 8 No. 9 ALBRIGHT – ($3.70)

We’ll go with ALBRIGHT as one of our best for Belmont Racecourse on Wednesday while reserving plenty of respect for the second emergency Bleecker Street. Still think Albright holds the most upside of this Class Three field which is compacted at the weights. A few of those higher up the benchmarks are either searching for their best or have drawn for tough runs in the race. Chris Parnham broke through for his first win in his last 50 rides when rating Allez Allez perfectly on the speed to score here on Saturday. He’s been riding without much luck of late and the signs are there to suggest that may be about to change. He should be able to camp just off the speed with Albright before utilizing the cutaway into the straight.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 3 No. 7 ENCHANTING SOUND – ($14)

The third race is another that we’ll pick on with the belief that we can narrow the chances down to a couple. ENCHANTING SOUND has opened a price to fill the each-way Value slot for Racingbase WA on Wednesday. Enchanting Sound does receive some weight from Empress Of India who looks ready to win while being tested beyond five-furlongs for the first time. She trialed well enough behind Saloon Bar recently who has since run a useful second to Universal Flair on Saturday. Enchanting Sound was well handled by Chris Parnham in winning her maiden over 1300 metres here when resuming last prep. She then ran into an unbeatable Valsassina over 1200 metres second-up before being tipped out after her following start. Neville Parnham goes for the claim of Keshaw Dhurun who’s riding in career best, and he can give Enchanted Sound every chance from the good draw.
