BEST BET 🏆  

Race 5 No. 10 LITTLE SILVER – ($4.60)

Thought we nicked one last week as we lobbed with LITTLE SILVER in a midweek 1400 metre race at Ascot. The underlying factor to us that day was that Littles Silver was the horse most likely to get the seven-furlongs. Shaun McGruddy did not muck around in taking the race by the scruff early. He sent Little Silver straight to the front where they ran along and virtually outstayed their opponents. Don’t mind him coming back slightly to the 1300 metres on Saturday where Little Silver can race handy again. Down in the weights might prove part of the key as Little Silver rises in class. He ran a strong time from the front last start and there may still be some upside to come with Little Silver.

Race 8 No. 4 RESORTMAN – ($8)

The Belmont Sprint looks a good race for RESORTMAN with trainer Michael Lane sending him around third-up. His racing pattern can be against him at times as it was when resuming over 1100 metres in the Roma Cup. Brad Rawiller found himself searching for runs on the horse with Resortman finishing just over two lengths behind Amelia’s Jewel. The pair struck similar trouble in the Quokka though probably did have enough getting close to the line. Paul Harvey is booked for his first ride on Resortman who has won four of his eight starts here. Lane has allowed a good spacing between runs to ensure Resortman can race right up to his best while getting out to 1400 metres.

Race 2 No. 1 GLASGOW GIRL – ($11)

They ran a good time from the front as GLASGOW GIRL put herself onto the speed from her wide gate second-up. The on-pace runners did hold the advantage throughout the day; however, Glasgow Girl often improves into the prep. Victoria Corva followed the leader as Glasgow Girl chased down Mordor, only to be a sitting shot for No Dice. We’ve we’re relying on getting the map right on when naming Glasgow Girl as our best last time. Turned out we got it very wrong with My Baby Blue Jean backing up from three days earlier and ensuring a tempo. Glasgow Girl can improve while being comfortable with the pace back out to the six-furlongs and we’ll stick for another.
