BEST BET 🏆

Race 2 No. 3 SUCCESS PLAY ($4)

Chris Parnham guided SUCCESS PLAY to a gutsy win over 1400 metres on this track a few runs back. This was in a race of similar strength with Parnham pushing on to take up the front running after being caught deep without cover. The pair set a solid tempo throughout with Success Play fending off a late challenge from Yarralea. Settled behind the leader Gift Of The Heart who kept finding to score over the 1400 metres here a fortnight ago. Success Play should roll forward again in a race with few chances and will be strong while coming back slightly to 1300 metres.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 5 No. 1 ON PATROL ($5.25)

Jordan Turner had to remind ON PATROL that he was still in a race as the horse switched off late last start. Turner had allowed On Patrol to find his feet early with Happy As Larry running at a solid clip up front. On Patrol impressed in how he moved into the race on the turn before pinning the ears back to race past them all. Turner had put the whip away to ride out hands and heels inside the final 75 metres with On Patrol switching off. He responded again under the reminder to keep going through the line. On Patrol won over 1400 metres that day while running against the on-pace pattern of the day. Comes back slightly in trip is a slight concern, as is the lack of pressure anticipated for Happy As Larry on Saturday.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 1 No. 1 MASTER ALEX ($12)

Brandon Louis can open proceedings at Belmont Racecourse on Saturday for Serpentine trainer David Harrison aboard MASTER ALEX. This looks a good race for Master Alex who did not stay the 1650 metres in a race that was initially run at a solid speed. Brayden Gaerth had to scrub at Master Alex to hold a position through the early stages before the tempo backed off somewhat through the mid-section of the race. Master still battled manfully to not be beaten far from Magic Whistle despite not getting the trip with that early pressure. Harrison has now found a race back to the seven furlongs which is a trip that Master Alex put two wins together over in a couple of handy form races.
