Race 4 No. 4 UNIVERSAL FLAIR – ($8.50)
The Ted Martinovich trained UNIVERSAL FLAIR landed some good bets when scoring here last week. Universal Flair led all the way on the heavy track on a day when leaders found it hard to win. She now finds herself back to 1000 metres on a seven-day back-up. Should expect Louis will hunt forward again from a better draw and they may find one or two to follow. Rail back in the true for the first time in a month gives her a fresh pad to use early in the day. Universal Flair clearly relishes rain-affected going and is expected to race strongly through the line.

Race 7 No. 2 BLACK SPIRIT – ($6.10)
Hard to ignore the form of Simon Miller’s BLACK SPIRIT who tastes a genuinely rain-affected track for the first time on Saturday. The mare generally races up on the speed and we’re hoping that will be the place to be as the rail comes back into the true. Brandon Louis takes his first ride on the mare who is a proven apprentice’s horse. Keshaw Dhurun had rated Black Spirit perfectly in front to score over 1400 metres here last start. The pair didn’t quite get there own way when racing over this track and trip the start before. Black Spirit took over early into the straight before going under in a last-stride defeat at the hands of Twice A Fortnight. Goes very close here if she does handle the conditions on Saturday.

Race 3 No. 3 ULTIMATE COMMAND – ($7.60)
A well-judged ride from the front by Luke Campbell wasn’t enough to see ULTIMATE COMMAND hold out the late challenge of Valency. Campbell allowed his mount to stride at a good tempo with Ultimate Command giving a kick into the straight. The horse was having his third run this time in and his first out past 1000 metres. Ultimate Command relished the opportunity to roll without being rushed along and made Valency dig deep to the line. We put him straight into the #WABlackbookers file following the run before he came out and scored under Brad Parnham last start. Ultimate Command has drawn poorly on Saturday, and we’ll put our trust in Brad to sort em out again.
