BEST BET 🏆

Race 5 No. 3 CURRIMUNDI ($3.25)

Winners win, and that’s exactly what CURRIMUNDI has been doing throughout his short racing career to date. We liked him going into last start before allowing us to be shied off from the wide gate in a race with little pressure on paper. They did walk up front With Currimundi racing keenly back in the field under Shaun McGruddy. Crescent City appeared to be the horse who would be his main rival in the race and he was receiving a comfortable run. McGruddy was up to task though, taking off around them early while William Pike found himself shuffled back on Crescent City. Currimundi shot established a winning break soon after straightening with Crescent City getting home when the race was all but over.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 7 No. 3 VALENCY ($6.10)

We saw enough from handy race mare VALENCY to suggest that she had returned in good order at Belmont Racecourse. The non-metrop winners’ race of last year rated to a benchmark 70 from the top of the weights without a lot of depth in the small field. Valency settled by the tail off an only steady gallop with Jade McNaught peeling as the widest runner into the straight. Valency had to do a bit of work from near the 600m to the the furlong which was telling down to the 100m. She had hit the front earlier into the straight with Troy Turner just cuddling Invincible Ruby back to her inside. Valency began to shorten by the 100m as Invincible Ruby came through with momentum. Valency kept grinding regardless while being no match for the winner. This run will bring her on and Valency has tended to improve into her preps over a good distance range.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 9 No. 5 HINT OF MINT ($12)

We backed HINT OF MINT at a big price with a fair degree of confidence over this track and trip two runs back. She was coming into that race off the back of two wins at the midweeks only to find herself strung-up between horses. They walked in front with the first five horses rounding the turn finishing as the first five home. As racing would have it, Hint Of Mint came out and won at her very next race start. She’s up in class on that race again; however, she knows how to win, and Chris Parnham can give her a comfortable run from their gate.
