BEST BET 🏆
Race 7: No.7 BONDI BEAU ($2.50 with bet365)
Townsville galloper BONDI BEAU is on a roll this preparation and looks ideally placed here to go on with it today. Last start, the Brazen Beau gelding made it win number two this time in when he led from barrier to box in a Class 6 Hcp over 1200m on his home track. Carrying 59kgs that day, he ran the trip in 1:10.3 with Nathan Day aboard. Day has a solid riding record with the five-year-old, boasting four wins and as many minor placings from his 11 previous rides. Today he gets the gun-run from gate two and with plenty of early speed in the race, Day might even decide to settle behind the mad dash up front. Dropping 4kgs here and already a winner at the track, he should prove a handful for this lot and looks the one to beat in this contest.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 6: No.2 ARCHIE’S LAW ($4.60 with bet365)
The five-year-old ARCHIE’S LAW made his racing debut last start and did enough to suggest he is a solid winning chance here today. He faced the starter at the Innisfail track just over two weeks ago and with Townsville jockey Frank Edwards aboard, got the job done, taking out the 900m Maiden Plate by half a length on the line. Edwards sticks with him here as he steps to Class 1 company today and drawn well in gate six, he maps to be around mid-field on settling. The Townsville-based galloper can only improve from that debut win and fitter as well, he looks right in the mix here.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 3: No.2 BOOM GATE ($5.50 with Palmerbet)
Locally trained by Andrew Cameron, BOOM GATE has finally found his mojo this preparation and looks a genuine threat on his home track today. Last start, the Casino Prince gelding left it to the last second but ran down the leader to grab first prize in a Class 6 Plate over 1560m at Mackay. In a slowly run affair, he covered the trip, 6.9 lengths slower than benchmark, still the best here. Isabella Teh gets the ride today with her 2kg claim reducing the burden in weight as the seven-year-old drops sharply in class today. If he can cross and find a sit near mid-field from his wide draw, he still looks a winning chance here.
