Ingham-based galloper, ZOUHOPE, has had a patchy start to his Nth Qld career but high flying at his past two starts, looks a genuine player in this contest today. Last start, the Zoustar gelding clobbered his rivals in a BM55 Hcp over 1500m at Cairns. Adrian Layt had him settled mid-field early before putting in the big ones to finish over the top of them, crossing the line almost three lengths in front of the field. Layt sticks with him today where he gets the gun-run on the fence (after early scratchings). He is already a two-time winner on soft tracks, so conditions are set for him to produce his best today.

Race 5:  No.6  CAPTAIN BOND  ($3 with bet365)

The Les Gordy-trained CAPTAIN BOND is in great touch this preparation and looks well placed here to bring up another victory today. Last start, the Capitalist gelding made it two wins from three starts this time in when he cruised to victory in a BM65 Hcp over 1200m at Townsville. Jackson Murphy rose him a treat that day and has the reins again for this assignment. Now with his third stable, he appears to have settled in well to life in North Queensland and fourth-up and in good form, he looks a real force in this contest.

Race 3:  No.1  RUBICKS CHOICE  ($5 with Ladbrokes)

Townsville galloper, RUBICKS CHOICE, has been thereabouts in his three starts this preparation and here, he looks well placed to break through for his first win today. Last start, the Rubick gelding made the move into the Stephen Bush camp (formerly with Billy Healey), and despite overracing, did well to grab third prize in a 1000m Maiden at the Home Hill track. Adrian Layt was aboard that day and sticks with him for this assignment. From gate six, he maps to settle mid-field and a clear run to the line should see him mount a late challenge and be there at the end.
