BEST BET 🏆

Race 5:  No.5  GO GETABOY  ($1.95 with bet365

The Roy Chillemi-trained GO GETABOY stands out here as another track specialist who has finished in the minor money in all four races this preparation and today gets his chance to score his first win this time in. Last start, the Stratum Star gelding beat all but one home in a Three-Year-Old Hcp over 1000m at Townsville. Chillemi used 3kg-claiming apprentice Jade Doolan to reduce the weight on the galloper who missed by just half a length on the line. He returns to Cannon Park today where he is four from five, and two from three over the 1250m trip. Lacey Morrison rode a winner for the Chillemi stable on Saturday at Townsville and will be out to collect a share of the main prize here today.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 4:  No.7  TEN SCHILLING  ($2.05 with Ladbrokes)

Locally-trained by Alwyn Bailey, TEN SCHILLING has been in great touch of late and looks well placed here to maintain his ‘track specialist’ status at the Cannon Park course. Last start, the Artie Schiller gelding was sent out a red-hot favourite but was nailed right on the line, leaving him with the runner-up cheque in a Class 3, here over 1250m. That made it four podium finishes from his past four starts, all on this track. Bailey steps him up in distance today where ‘Lethal’ Lacey Morrison sticks with him (having already won on him three starts back). All seven previous top-three finishes have come on this track and he looks poised for another big finish today.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 7:  No.3  KING JESTER  ($4 with Bet Right)

It seems to be all about track specialists today and the Rod Miller-trained KING JESTER is no exception. Last start, the Hallowed Crown gelding made it a hat-trick of podium finishes on the Cannon Park track when he finished third in Open company over the 950m sprint. His resume shows five starts at the track and distance for two wins and three minor money finishes as Ryan Wiggins returns in search of his first win on the gelding after three previous rides on the four-year-old. Six career wins to date and five of those have been right here. Dropping back in class here, with a little luck in running today, he can collect the winner’s cheque in this contest.
