BEST BET 🏆
Race 2: No.2 POKER DICE ($5 with Neds)
Locally-trained by Keith Dryden, POKER DICE has finished top-two at his past three starts and looks well placed here to keep that trend going today. Last start, the Casino Prince gelding came off a big win on the synthetic track here when he ran around on the grass track and beat all but one home in a BM65 over 2000m with Jack Martin aboard. He is a track and distance winner and boasting a win and two runner-up finishes (from four previous rides), Martin remains the pilot for today’s assignment. He does no early work from gate two and maps to settle back in the field. At his peak today, watch for another big finish from the five-year-old here.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 1: No.3 MISSILE SEEKER ($2.35 with Ladbrokes)
The Gary Portelli-trained MISSILE SEEKER is in great touch this time in and third-up today looks set to shine here. Last start, the Smart Missile colt went one better than his first-up second at Nowra when he broke through for his first win in a 1300m Maiden Plate on this track. He missed the start by a length and was still spotting the leaders six lengths on the turn. He made up the deficit in the run home and arrived in time to grab the main prize on the line. Lousie Day was on board for that first-up run and returns to steer the ship today. He gets the gun-run from gate one and maps to be box-seating on settling. Fitter for two runs back and now a winner at the track, he take the spoils here today.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 8: No.15 GEMINIDS ($13 with Palmerbet)
Local galloper, GEMINIDS is third-up today and looks set to make the podium for the third-straight time here. Last start, the Super One mare made up good ground late to finish a close-up third at Queanbeyan in a Class 2 Hcp over 1200m with Louise Day on board. Back on home soil today, she has seen the track & distance five times to date, boasting two wins and three minor placings, clearly stamping her a track specialist. She has drawn wide (gate 9 of 16) but has that burden eased after early scratchings and maps to settle near mid-field with cover. Day sticks with her today and already a winner when third-up, she looks well worth an each-way ticket here.
