Race 6:  No.1  G’DAY POOPSIE  ($2.75 with BoomBet)

Wyong visitor G’DAY POOPSIE is second-up today and looks well placed here to go one better in this contest. Last start, the Skyclad gelding was fresh off a 14-week spell when he beat all but one home in a BM58 Hcp over 1000m at Taree on a Soft 7 that day. He ran his last 600m, 2.5 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best last start effort here. He is making his Canberra debut today and the stable have removed the winkers for the first time. He drops in grade here and is ideally drawn in gate two where he maps to settle in the first half dozen. Already a winner when second-up, he looks the one to beat.

Race 2:  No.4  WAGUNDA  ($8 with Bet Right)

The Nick Olive-trained WAGUNDA has come back in great form and looks all set here to go on with it today. Last start, the Wandjina gelding came off a first-up (Maiden) win at Wagga when he found the podium again by finishing third in a BM58 Hcp over 1408m at the Sapphire Coast. That was his second start for Olive (after transferring from the Tash Burleigh stables at Goulburn). Billy Owen returns after steering him to that maiden win and from gate two, he gets all the favours as he maps to be box-seating on settling. Fitter for those runs back, he looks right in the mix today and is capable of taking home the major prize at odds.

Race 7:  No.4  BEAU ROCK  ($8.50 with Palmerbet)

Local galloper BEAU ROCK brings a glowing resume with him today and looks a serious contender at odds in this contest. Last start, the Magnus gelding came off a winning hat-trick when he finished third in a BM66 Hcp over 1000m at Albury. Trapped three-wide without cover to the turn, he swung even wider and finished on gamely to claim his sixth-straight podium finish this preparation. Back on home soil today, his stats here are second to none, boasting three wins from six starts at the track and distance and all five career wins have come on his home track as well. He has good early gate speed which should see him overcome his wide gate today and with a clear run to the line, he can give this a real shake.
