Race 6:  No.13  BUILLT  ($4.20 with Picklebet)

The Chris Waller-trained BUILLT secures a run here (as an emergency) and at the weights, looks the one to beat today. Last start, the I Am Invincible gelding came off his maiden win at Randwick (on the Kensington track) when he finished fourth in a BM68 Hcp over 1400m at the same track. Stepping-up in class that day, the three-year-old wasn’t disgraced as James McDonald was in the saddle for the first time that day. Well drawn in gate four here, McDonald sticks with him for this assignment and with a trouble-free run, he should prove very competitive in this contest.

Race 7:  No.11  BAT OUT OF HELL  ($8.50 with Bet Right) 

Having his first start for the Maher & Eustace stable today, BAT OUT OF HELL looks well placed in this contest and on fresh legs, can give this a real shake. Last start, the Hellbent gelding ended his last campaign (still with Gary Portelli) where he finished third in a BM64 Hcp, here over 1550m. He had 59.5kgs to carry that day and drew gate nine (of ten) where he settled back in the field. He finished strongly (running the best final 600m) to finish just over a length behind the winner that day. He placed in a recent trial and his resume boasts five starts for five podium finishes, including two wins to date. Jason Collett has the reins today as the galloper goes to the gates without the blinkers on for the first time. Already a winner when first-up and a winner in the wet, he ticks enough boxes here to be considered a solid winning chance at odds today.

Race 4:  No.5  SPROUT WINGS  ($7.10 with BoomBet)

The Matthew Smith-trained SPROUT WINGS is second-up here and looks right at home on the wet track today. Last start, the Choisir mare was fresh off a lengthy eight-month absence when she came from last to grab victory in a BM72 Hcp for the girls over the mile on a Heavy 8 at Warwick Farm. She is a two-time winner here and has saluted twice previously from three second-up starts as well. Kathy O’Hara has plenty of experience with the mare, having ridden her to three of her four career wins and sticks with the five-year-old today. Already successful at the 1900m here, she does no early work from gate one today and should prove hard to beat in this company.
