Race 5:  No.4  BEAUTIFUL HEART  ($3.80 with Bet Right)

The Chris Waller-trained BEAUTIFUL HEART is three starts into this campaign and dropping sharply in grade today, looks a big chance of bouncing back to the winner’s circle. Last start, the Snitzel filly came off her Maiden win when she took her place in The Bracelet, a Listed event over 1800m at the Sunshine Coast which proved to be too big a bridge to cross, finishing unplaced in the event. This is a big drop in grade as J.Mac sticks with her for this contest. Waller swaps the winkers for blinkers as the filly gets the gun-run from gate one and maps to settle just behind the speed, on the fence. This looks far more suitable for her and with a trouble-free run today, she should be there at the finish.

Race 6:  No.11  WELCOME GYPSY  ($4.20 with Picklebet)

John Thompson saddles-up WELCOME GYPSY here who is in top-shelf form this preparation and boasts strong claims for victory in this contest. Last start, the Toronado mare came within a whisker of a winning hat-trick when she finished a close-up second in a BM64 Hcp over 1200m at Kembla Grange. She ran her last 600m, 4 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in this line-up. She also posted the fastest final 400m and 200m sectionals for the race. Keagan Latham has been with the mare since resuming and is in charge again today. Nicely drawn in gate five, she maps to settle in the first half-dozen and with plenty of early speed in the race, she should be finishing strongly today.

Race 3:  No.1  BAT OUT OF HELL  ($6.75 with Picklebet)

The Maher & Eustace-trained BAT OUT OF HELL is second-up today and down in grade, looks a genuine winning chance in this contest. Last start, the Hellbent gelding had just changed stables (previously with Gary Portelli) and came off a 17-week spell when clearly in need of the run, he finished mid-field in a BM72 Hcp, here over 1100m. Settling well back, he gave them too much start and was unable to fire over the sprint. Dropping back in grade today, Zac Lloyd has the reins and brings 1.5kg claim with him for this assignment. Last campaign, the three-year-old never missed a podium finish (which included two wins) and fitter for that first-up run here, he looks a real threat to this field today.
