The Team Geran-trained JACK BE LUCKY is third-up today and looks ready to produce his best. Last start, the Holy Roman Emperor gelding came off a rare unplaced finish when he beat all but one home in a Class 4 Hcp over 1100m at Toowoomba. Trying to lead all the way, he found one better on the day but fought on well to hold onto the silver medal. The four-year-old drops in grade today and gets all the favours, jumping from gate one. Apprentice, Landan Sykes has the reins today and reduces the weight burden with a 3kg claim. He boasts an impressive resume with 17 career starts ending in 13 podium finishes and fitter for two runs back, he looks set to lead all the way here.

Race 4:  No.4  SHOTGUN SONNY  ($5 with Neds)

The Craig Smith-trained SHOTGUN SONNY is three starts into this preparation and should now be ready to win again. Last start, the Tycoon Ruler gelding finished third in a BM65 Hcp over 1200m at Thangool. Justin Stanley was aboard that day as the six-year-old battled on well to record his 19th podium finish from 35 career-starts. He gets the gun-run from gate one today and welcomes a new rider with Matty McGillivray taking on the job for this assignment. He won fourth-up last preparation and all looks in order for a repeat of that today.

Race 6:  No.9  LEGEND OF ZORRO  ($17 with bet365)

Formerly with Ballarat trainer Andrew Noblet, LEGEND OF ZORRO has his third start with Rod Hay today and looks a sneaky chance of giving this contest a real shake at odds. Last start, the Toronado gelding showed plenty of improvement when second-up, he finished third in Open company over 1400m at Thangool. Now fitter for two runs back, he faces similar opposition today and with a 2kg claim here, he carries 2.5kgs less than last start. With the field reduced from early scratchings, gates shouldn’t play a part here and already a winner when third-up, he looks over the odds today and just might play a big part in the finish today.
