BEST BET 🏆
Race 1 No. 7 FOOLS PLAY ($5.50)
Just sitting under that each-way quote of around $5 is FOOLS PLAY who caught the eye late on debut. She was asked to come back off her wide draw by Jon Grisedale and the filly responded by travelling kindly under her rider. They hadn’t gone hard in front which left the backmarkers such as Fools Play with plenty to do. She showed there is a bit under the hood when Grisedale slipped her some leather and Fools Play took off around them. Her sprint had come to an end near the 100m with Fools Play grinding to the line. She has drawn kindly at Coffs Harbour Racecourse on Friday which can allow Grisedale to settle much closer on Fools Play.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 3 No. 4 LA CACHE A VIN ($4.15)
Raymond Spokes can find a good spot in running aboard LA CACHE A VIN who finally drew a barrier at Coffs Harbour Racecourse on Friday. The horse generally puts himself in his races early and his past two runs have been full of merit. Spokes perhaps went a little too soon after being trapped 3WNC and found himself exposed a long way from home. It took one horse in Prime Impact to peg them back while La Cache A Vin comfortably held the others. Stayed to the 1400m when local trainer Brett Bellamy unleashed La Cache A Vin on his home track. Caught deep again when did plenty of chasing behind the winner West Cork. Probably had enough inside the furlong with the step back to 1300m seemingly ideal.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 7 No. 13 THE RITZ ($12.20)
Gold Coast trainer Michael Morrison appears to have made it a plan to capture the Coffs Harbour Cup after running second last year with THE RITZ. He had only just acquired the horse off of Michael Costa to prepare The Ritz to score second-up on the Gold Coast. He kept Lani Allen aboard who had no luck from their wide draw in the cup with The Ritz trapped deep without cover the entire. The horse continued to grind after Hosier who had too much in hand. The Ritz meets last year’s winner 4 kilos better this time around and comes off a good first-up run at Eagle Farm. He’s unbeaten second-up and has drawn to receive an economical run over the mile.
