The Kris Lees-trained EXTESSIVE is in career-best form and looks the goods here to bring up her sixth-straight podium finish today. Last start, the Exceed And Excel mare was shooting for the hat-trick when she looked home but was nabbed on the post by two challengers, leaving her with third prize in a Class 3 Hcp over 1400m at the Sunshine Coast. Andrew Mallyon remains aboard for his third-straight ride on the mare and from gate six, she maps to settle near the speed. The four-year-old should find this contest a little easier and with a trouble-free run, she can make her first look at the track a winning one.

Race 1:  No.4  COOL FIZZ  ($4.60 with Unibet)

Locally-trained by Brett Dodson, COOL FIZZ is third-up today and looks a genuine chance at bringing up her second win for this preparation. Last start, the Deep Field mare came off an impressive first-up win to break her maiden status when she drew the outside gate (11) which took it’s toll, seeing her finish mid-field in a Class 1 Hcp over 1000m at Ballina. Fitter for those two runs, she finished runner-up when third-up last time in and is already a track and distance winner. She ticks enough boxes here to attract attention and with the pre-post favourite (Star Magic) now scratched, she looks even more attractive as a winning chance today.

Race 7:  No.7  ATHENA NYX  ($5 with Ladbrokes)

Another from the Kris Lees stable is ATHENA NYX who is third-up today and looks in the mix amongst these gallopers. Last start, the Star Turn mare failed to handle the Heavy 9 conditions at Newcastle where she finished fifth, beaten seven lengths in a BM58 Hcp over 1150m. Andrew Mallyon has had success with her at his only ride on the mare and returns for today’s assignment. She gets the gun-run from gate one today and already a winner when third-up, a trouble-free run here could see her picking up the chocolates.
