Race 5:  No.3  BONJOUR RUPERT  ($2.70 with Ladbrokes)

The Brett Cavanough-trained BONJOUR RUPERT is second-up today and coming off a short back-up (5 days), will take beating here. Last start, the Winning Rupert gelding resumed after spending 22 weeks in the paddock when he finished mid-field in a Class 1 Hcp over 1175m at Grafton. He was clearly in need of the run that day and will only strip fitter here after that run. Jake Bayliss has the reins for the first time today and already a winner when second-up, he warrants plenty of respect here and looks a genuine winning chance in this event.

Race 2:  No.1  TOY BOY ROY  ($3.70 with Bet Right)

Grafton galloper TOY BOY ROY resumes from an eight-week let-up today and ticks enough boxes here to be considered a serious threat to this field. Last start, the Reward For Effort gelding ended his last campaign with his fourth podium finish from five starts when he beat all but one home in a Class 1 Hcp, here over 1000m. His track record here is top-class boasting a win and two runner-up finishes from his three starts at the track. He has also finished runner-up twice from two first-up runs so a forwarding showing on fresh legs today will not surprise.

Race 8:  No.8  REACHOVER  ($6.50 with Bet Right)

The Grafton-based galloper REACHOVER has returned in great touch and third-up today looks a prime candidate to take home the major prize. Last start, the Outreach gelding went one better than his first-up effort and took out a Class 1 Hcp over 1010m at Ballina on a Heavy 8 that day. Slowly away, he settled back with the tail-enders but finished with a wet sail and tail wind to grab victory near the line. He drops in grade here and has more weight accordingly but is reunited with Luke Rolls again, who has shared a win and three minor placings with him from seven previous rides. Fitter for those runs back, he will be finishing on here again today and is in line for another victory.
