Forgiving him for that performance, he maps to be closer to the fence today from gate five and welcomes Ronald Simpson as his new rider for this assignment. He is a two-time winner when third-up and has success at the track and distance as well. Fitter for those two runs back, he lines up here a serious contender for the main prize.

Mudgee galloper AUSSIE PHAROAH is three starts into a racing career and improving at each start, he looks a big chance of breaking through today. Last start, the American Pharoah gelding found the podium for the first time when he claimed third prize in a 1300m Maiden Plate at Dubbo. Trapped three-wide without cover, he did well to grab the bronze medal that day in the 13-strong field. Kody Nestor is in charge today and nicely drawn in gate four, he maps to settle behind the speed and fitter for those three runs, he looks a serious contender in this contest.

Trained at Orange by Alison Smith, BILLABONG ISLE has come back in great touch and third-up today looks set to give this contest a real shake. Last start, the Mikki Isle mare made it back-to-back runner-up finishes when she beat all but home in a Class 3 Hcp over 1000m at Dubbo. She had 45 weeks off the scene before resuming and apprentice William Stanley has been in the saddle for both runs and sticks with her again today. Already a winner when third-up and a two-time winner at the trip, she looks a serious threat here at odds.
