Our form expert provides Corowa tips for today’s horse racing at Corowa Racecourse and gives his best bets.
BEST BET 🏆
Race 3: No.2 CASSIMIR ($3.70 with BoomBet)
The Wagga-based galloper CASSIMIR makes his Corowa debut today and looks well placed here for back-to-back victories. Last start, the Hellbent gelding changed trainers, from Kelly Schweida’s QLD camp to the Wagga stables of Rodger Waters and gave the new stable a win when he clobbered them in a 1000m Maiden on his new home track. With apprentice Holly Durnan aboard, he ploughed through the Heavy 10 conditions and put a space on them, winning by 2.5 lengths across the line. Fitter for three runs this time in, Durnan sticks with him here as he maps to settle better than mid-field from gate five. With a clear run home, he looks set for another win today.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 7: No.11 ADD MILK ($6 with Ladbrokes)
The Craig Weeding-trained ADD MILK is in good touch after four starts this time in and at the weights, looks a real threat to victory today. Last start, the Flying Artie mare was slowly away and never really recovered when finishing fourth in a BM58 Hcp over 1400m at Narrandera. She had 60kgs to carry that day and although she did get to the line well, she still ended up more than two lengths from the winner. Josh Richards has the reins for the first time today as the four-year-old gets the gun-run from gate one. She should be at her peak now and with a trouble-free run here, she can take this one out.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 6: No.2 NORTHERNERO ($7.50 with Bet Right)
Victorian galloper NORTHERNERO is second-up today and ticks enough boxes here to make things interesting for this contest. Last start, the Kaphero gelding was fresh off an 18-week break when he finished just behind the placegetters in a BM66 Hcp over 1000m at Narrandera. He carried 63.5kgs that day to finish less than a length from the winner. Fiona Sandkuhl has her second ride on the six-year-old and after her claim, he carries 65kgs for this contest. His eight career wins include a victory over this track and distance and already a winner when second-up, he looks a genuine winning chance today at odds.
