Cranbourne Tips 19/5/1923

MULTI ANCHOR ⚓

Race 1 No. 5 VERIFIER- ($1.29)

This shapes as an easy kill for VERIFIER in the opening race of the evening at Cranbourne. The Nigel Blackiston-trained galloper was just about a certainly beaten in Maiden grade over the 2000m at Seymour two starts ago in a race that has already produced three winners. He then tackled the Group 3 Chairmans Stakes (2000m) at Morphettville and conceded a massive start before working home solidly for 5th, beaten less than three lengths by Red Sun Sensation. That form looks much superior to what his rivals have been producing and only bad luck can stop him.

NEXT BEST 🥈 (WIN)

Race 3 No 1 HURRICANE THUNDER – ($2.25)

Nice debut by KESSLER at Kilmore on April 13 and the three-year-old can go one spot better after finishing runner-up behind Matao Ma. He put a four length gap on River Frost, who has since come out and won. Kessler sat outside the leader and went 1.1 lengths slower than standard benchmark, which is 5.7 lengths better than the next best last start figures of any runner. Only Zasceed has produced a better figure in their career. Improvement to come at his second start and with Beau Mertens on board he can go very close.

BEST VALUE 💰(EACH-WAY)

Race 8 No.3 THE BIG BUZZ- ($14)

THE BIG BUZZ shapes as a solid prospect in the final race of the evening at Cranbourne. The seven-year-old resumed off a long spell at Sandown over the 1300m on May 6 and looked in need of the run when 8th behind Chassis. That was in a Saturday race and he should find this easier, while I am expecting the son of Darci Brahma to strip fitter. The former Kiwi was solid in some stronger races over the 1600m and beyond at his last preparation and it is worth noting that he comes in with the best last start benchmark figures of any runner.
