Race 3 No. 7 STAUNCH- ($2.05) 

Best Bet comes up in Race 3 with THE MANSMAN looking to go on with the job after resuming with a runner-up performance at Geelong over the 1300m on December 7. The Philip Stokes-trained galloper settled handy and stuck to the task to fill the exacta behind Elouyou. He went two lengths slower than standard benchmark in that race, which is a better figure than what any horse in this race has produced. The son of Almanwill strip fitter for this and should be hard to beat. 

NEXT BEST 🥈   

Race 4 No. 7  JUSTABOOM- ($2.60) 

Nice debut effort by JUSTABOOM at Sandown on December 6 and the Robbie Griffiths/Matt de Kock galloper can go a couple of spots better here. The daughter of Justify attracted late support in the betting that day and settled back in the field before producing the fastest last 400m and 200m to fill the minors. She went 0.8 lengths slower than standard benchmark, which is a better figure than what any horse in this race has produced. Jamie Mott rides and the pair draw barrier 8. 

BEST VALUE 💰   

Race 8 No. 2 ROCK ARTIST – ($10) 

ROCK ARTIST shapes as a value player in the final race of the evening. The locally trained galloper comes into this with two runs under his belt and needed the run when resuming before showing improvement at Sandown over the 1200m on December 6, finishing 5th behind Villa Seventynine, beaten less than a length. He comes into this third up and with the fitness under his belt. The son of Wanjina draws wide but has the speed to overcome that and with any luck in the run he can go close.
